Martha Marie Parks

Martha Marie Parks, age 84, of Eaton, OH, passed away Thursday, June 28, 2012 at Vancrest of Eaton. She was born May 2, 1928 in Preble County, OH to the late John W. and Florence (Geeting) Brower. Martha was a 1946 graduate of Eaton High School; she and her husband Shorty owned and operated Parks IGA on Aukerman Street from 1959 to 1967; she was a member of the Eaton United Church of Christ, Eaton, OH; was a member of Club 18, Eaton, OH; was a member the Preble County Historical Society; and she delivered meals to the elderly for many years with her husband Shorty. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her sister Jane Bridenbaugh. She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Lester “Shorty” Parks of Eaton, OH; daughter Patty (Ferris) Cummings of Hillsboro, OH; son John (Vicki) Parks of Eaton, OH; grandchildren David (Rachel) Cummings of Seaman, OH, Brian (Heather) Cummings of Hillsboro, OH and Becky (fiancé Adrian Brunett) Riddell of Moraine, OH; great grandchildren Courtney Cummings, Logan Cummings, Ethan Cummings, Brayden Cummings and Caden Brunett; sister Donna Grube of Eaton, OH; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Monday, July 2, 2012 at the Girton Schmidt & Boucher Gard Funeral Home, 226 West Main Street, Eaton, OH with Rev. Roger Stine officiating. Burial will be in Mound Hill Cemetery, Eaton, OH. Friends will be received from 2:00 to 5:00 P.M. on Sunday, July 1, 2012 at the funeral home.
