Martha E Swartsell

Martha E. Swartsell, age 83, of Eaton, Ohio passed away on June 22, 2019 at her home. She was born April 11, 1936 in Jeffersonville, Ohio to the late Bertha Elizabeth (Eales) Merritt and Loren J. Merritt. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Carl H. Swartsell; one sister Iris Lamb; and a brother Arthur Merritt; and son-in-law Clarence (Jr) Driver. She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law Joe and Lisa Swartsell of Eaton, OH; daughter and son-in-law Teri and Rocki Cole of Liberty, IN; daughter Carla Driver of New Paris, OH; and daughter and son-in-law Tammy and John Bertsch of Buckingham, FL; 6 granddaughters; 4 grandsons; 7 great granddaughters; 9 great grandsons; and many nieces and nephews. Martha was a Godly, loving caregiver to her family and all who walked in her doors. Her kitchen was the heart of her home where she was the happiest serving her family and friends. Friends will be received from 4:00 to 5:30 pm, with funeral service immediately following at 5:30 pm, on Tuesday, June 25, 2019 at the Girton Schmidt & Boucher Gard Funeral Home with Pastor Jeff Travis officiating. A graveside service and burial will be held at 10:00 am on Wednesday, June 26 at Springlawn Cemetery in New Paris, OH. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to Preble County Animal Shelter in memory of her love for animals.
