Mary L. Palotas (nee Mason), age 94, of Eaton, OH and formerly of Dayton, OH, passed away Wednesday, January 2, 2013 at Hospice of Dayton. She was born August 14, 1918 in Dayton to the late Clyde L. and Ruth Mae (Comer) Mason. Mary was a member of the Visitation Catholic Church, Eaton, OH and formerly a member of St. Stephens Catholic Church, Dayton, OH. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years Joseph Palotas, who passed away in January of 2003; brothers Charles, George, Clyde and James; and sister Margaret. She is survived by her sister Jeanne Jay of Brook Park, OH; brother Howard (Ramona) Mason of Tipp City, OH; nephew/son Clyde “Bob” (Julia) Mason of Eaton, OH, whom she raised from the age of three; grandchildren Todd (Mary Lou) Mason of Jacksonville, FL, Shelly (Matt) Loxley of Lewisburg, OH and Joseph (Penny) Mason of Eaton, OH; great grandchildren Jennifer (Andy) Locke of St. Augustine, FL, Zachary Mason and Abbey Mason both of Jacksonville, FL, Justin Loxley of West Alexandria, OH, Tyler Loxley of Ft. Meyers, FL, and Arielle Mason and Haley Mason both of Eaton, OH; and one great great granddaughter Emma Locke of St. Augustine, FL; and many nieces, nephews and friends. Mary enjoyed 66 years of marriage to her husband Joe. She loved visits and sharing stories of her long life with her family. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Hospice of Dayton for the loving care Mary received. No public visitation. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, January 5, 2013 at the Visitation Catholic Church, 407 East Main Street, Eaton, OH with Father J. Thomas Fitzsimmons officiating. A luncheon will immediately follow the mass at the church. Burial will follow the luncheon at Calvary Cemetery, Dayton, OH. Girton Schmidt & Boucher Gard Funeral Home, Eaton, OH is assisting the family with arrangements.
