Nanette Marie Smith, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, of Eaton OH passed away at Hospice of Dayton due to complications from pancreatic cancer on June 3, 2024, leaving a void her family cannot fill. Nanette was born in Dayton OH in 1954 to Barbara and Richard Ridgway Sr., and was the older sister to Richard Ridgway Jr. She attended Sinclair Community College where she obtained her nursing degree and brought her passion and caring personality to several nursing jobs, of which she made her long-term career at the Preble County Department of Health. As a loving mother to Brian, Matthew, and Michael, her sons will miss her and appreciate the life lessons she taught them. Nanette took special joy in cooking, gardening, and caring for the many dogs her family had throughout the years. She had fond memories of vacationing with her family to various scenic destinations such as Mackinaw Island MI, Drummond Island MI, Denver CO, Charleston SC and Europe. Nanette was preceded in death by her mother Barbara (Thompson) and father Richard Ridgway Sr., and is survived by her husband Randy Smith, her sons Brian, Matthew (Beth), and Michael (Angela) Smith, her brother Richard (Celeste) Ridgway Jr., sister-in-law Diane Foreman, nieces Alison Dunton-Ridgway and Kelsey Fanning (Ridgway), and grandchildren Harrison, Everleigh, and Pearl Smith, all of whom will never forget the enormous love, kindness, and happiness she brought to their lives.
