Richard L. “Dick” Francis, age 87, of Eaton, OH passed away on Saturday, July 27, 2024 at Vancrest Health Care Center in Eaton, OH. He was born May 5, 1937 in Eaton. Dick was an Ohio Army National Guard Veteran; was a City of Eaton volunteer firefighter from 1975 to 2000; was a Hunter Education Instructor for the Ohio Division of Wildlife; and worked at Barber and Conley John Deere Implement for 35 years. He was preceded in death by his wife Carolyn Francis; father and stepmother Chester and Clara Francis; mother and stepfather Helen and Dale Weherley; brothers Dale Allen Weherley and Harvey Weherley; and sister Jacqueline Denlinger. He is survived by his daughters Robin (Tim) Fligor of Eaton, OH and Bobbi (Jeff) McQueen of Eaton, OH; sons Richard (Kevin Ruddick) Francis II of Richmond, IN; grandchildren: Ross (Brandy) Fligor of Eaton, OH and Beth (Jeff) Cox of New Paris, OH; great-children Rosie and Logan Fligor of Eaton, OH; sisters Charlotte (Terry) Pullon of Eaton and Jodi (Ned) Hunsucker of Eaton; sister-in-law Gerri Weherley of West Manchester; and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Friday, August 2, 2024 from 10:00 to 11:30 am at the Gard Funeral Home, 226 West Main Street, Eaton, OH. A graveside service will follow at 12:00 Noon at Mound Hill Cemetery in Eaton with military honors provided by the Preble County Honor Guard. The family would like to express a special thank you to Lori Keehner and staff at Vancrest Health Care Center and Jean from Hospice of Dayton for the wonderful care provided to Dick.
