Richard E. Murray

Richard E. Murray, age 81, of Leesburg, FL and formerly of New Paris, OH, passed away Wednesday, March 12, 2014 at the Vancrest Health Care Center in Eaton. He was born August 1, 1932 in Richmond, IN to the late Francis A. and Audrey M. Murray. He was a U.S. Army Veteran; a member of the Masonic Lodge, New Paris, OH; member of the American Legion, Leesburg, FL; member of the United Methodist Church, Fruitland Park, FL; and was an avid shuffleboard and bocce ball player. He retired from Belden Wire & Cable, Richmond, IN with over 25 years of employment. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Ruth Ellen Murray, who passed away in 2007; son Michael Murray; granddaughter Whitney Starks; and sister Marilyn Banks. He is survived by his daughter Ann Murray of West Alexandria, OH; daughter Sue Ellen Murray of New Paris, OH; daughter Lynn Starks of Midland, GA; grandchildren Joanna (Eric) Nerderman of Eaton, OH, Stephanie Murray of Seven Mile, OH, Mary (Brad) Johnson of West Alexandria, OH and Matthew Starks of Lithonia, GA; great grandchildren Jacob Couvutsakis, Ayden Szymanowski, Joselynn Nerderman, Erica Nerderman, Andrew Johnson, Annabelle Johnson, Seth Johnson, Madison Johnson and JaKaden Starks; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Friends will be received on Saturday, March 15, 2014 from 10:00 am until time of memorial service at 11:00 am at the Girton Schmidt & Boucher Gard Funeral Home, 226 West Main Street, Eaton, OH with Pastor Laura Thie officiating. Interment will follow at Springlawn Cemetery, New Paris, OH. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of donors choice.
