Richard E. Wells

Richard E. Wells, age 85, of Eaton, OH, passed away on Wednesday, February 16, 2022 at Bethesda North Hospital in Cincinnati, OH.  He was born March 23, 1936 in Cincinnati, OH to the late Richard and Thelma Wells.  He was a 1954 graduate of Amelia High School and earned his Bachelor and Master degrees from Miami University.  He was a World History teacher for 30 years at Eaton High School, where he started the Eaton Golf Team in 1960 and continued to coach golf and softball for many years.  He also taught golf classes and coached the men’s golf team at Miami University Hamilton Campus.  He was a longtime member of the Eaton Country Club.  He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Janice Wells of Eaton; daughters Victoria (Gary) Johnson of Fairfield, OH and daughter Jane (Chester) Smith of Oxford, OH; grandchildren: Ali Johnson of Delhi, OH, Justin (Betsy) Smith of College Corner, OH, Joe Johnson of Cincinnati, OH and Jordan Smith of Covington, KY; great grandchildren Ava Marie, Liam and Hazel; sisters Liz (Bob) Harrod of Cincinnati, OH and Mary Ellis of Cincinnati, OH; brother Doug Wells of Burlington, KY; and several nieces and nephews.  Visitation will be held Monday, February 21, 2022 from 11:00 am until time of funeral service at 12:00 noon at the Gard Funeral Home, 226 West Main Street, Eaton, OH with Pastor Gerald Sadai officiating.
