Robert L. Combs, age 88, of West Alexandria, OH passed away on Saturday, June 1, 2024 at his residence. He was born May 6, 1936 in Lee County, KY to the late Winfred and Hattie (Bowles) Combs. He was a graduate of Lanier High School and earned his Bachelor and Master Degrees from Miami University in Education. He retired from Eaton Community Schools, where he was a former JV Basketball Coach and JV Baseball Coach; and also coached girls junior high basketball at Twin Valley South School. He was a member of the Preble County Retired Teachers Association; member of the St. John Lutheran Church in Ingomar; was a volunteer with the Special Olympics and former board member of the MRDD in Preble County; was an area volleyball official for many years; former little league coach in West Alexandria; and was a volunteer at the West Alexandria Food Bank. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son Steve Combs. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Darlene Combs; daughter Debra Bennett; son Doug (Jennifer) Combs; grandchildren Alex Day, Jordan (Tracy) Combs, Kacie (Michael) Randolph, Natalie (Brady) Davis, Branson (Jenna) Bennett and Steven Bennett; 6 great grandchildren; sister Margaret (Dale) Degler; and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 6, 2024 from 10:00 am until time of funeral service at 12:00 noon at the St. John Lutheran Church, 2139 Enterprise Road, West Alexandria, OH 45381 with Pastor Bill Schilling officiating.
