Robert V. Frank

Robert V. Frank passed away April 8, 2024, at Vancrest in Eaton, OH.   Born on August 1, 1936 in Portland, IN to Ralph and Verlyn (Buckmaster) Frank.  Robert is survived by his wife, June (Sheller), brothers Eugene and Richard Frank, daughters Betsy (Richard) McCloud and Belinda Frank and sons Bret (Karen), Bruce (Michelle) and Brad (Lek).  In addition, he had many beloved grandchildren, Jared, Jeremy and Jorey McCloud, Hannah (Jareth) Florez, Sean (Elizabeth) Frank, Daniel Frank, Alan and Aiden Frank and Cooper Layman.  He was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Brian Frank.  Robert graduated from Portland High School in 1954 then Ball State University in 1958 with an accounting degree.  Besides working in his parent implement business growing up, he worked for 30 years at Super Foods Services followed by Mead and Valvsys. Robert had a lifelong love of automobile racing, AJ Foyt, fried chicken and Ford Mustangs.  He attended races at numerous courses including Indianapolis, Daytona, Michigan, Watkins Glen, Mid-Ohio, Eldora and Winchester among others.  He was an almost 40-year member of the Sports Car Club of America campaigning an Austin Healy Sprite in Road Races across the Midwest.   He had several class wins, a podium at the June Sprints and one-track record.  He enjoyed spending time with his family working on cars and doing remodeling projects.  Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 11^th from 12:00 pm until the time of the funeral service at 2:00 pm at Gard Funeral Home, 226 W Main St, Eaton, OH.  Burial will follow at the Mound Hill Cemetery, Eaton, OH.  Online condolences and other remembrances can be sent to the family by visiting www.gardfuneralhome.com.  In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made to the St. Jude Children’s Hospital or a charity of your choice.
