Robert J. Geeding

Robert J. Geeding, Sr., age 91, of Eaton, OH, passed away on Wednesday, June 3, 2015 at Grandview Hospital in Dayton. He was born October 14, 1923 in Preble County to the late Adam and Oma Geeding. Bob graduated from Gratis High School in 1941; was a U.S. Air Force Veteran who served during WWII; he retired after 32 years of employment from General Motors of Dayton in 1974; was also a longtime Preble County farmer and raised several standard breed horses; he worked for Kramer & Kramer Auctioneers for 10 years; was a 50 year member of the Odd Fellows Lodge in Eaton, where he served as Past Grand Noble; was a member of the American Legion Post #215, Eaton; and was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Eaton. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his son Robert Geeding, Jr., granddaughter Cynthia Geeding Johnson and brother Firman Geeding. He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Mary Aukerman Geeding, whom he married on October 15, 1943; daughter Becky (Allan) Davis of Eaton; daughter-in-law Betty Geeding of Dayton; grandchildren Mark (Lisa) Geeding of Columbus, OH, Shelly (Cameron) Ruppert of St. Marys, OH, Jenny (Keith) Schmidt of Eaton and David (Kelly) Johnson of Columbus, OH; great grandchildren Brendan Geeding, Riley Geeding, Ashley Matthews, Krista Ruppert, Douglas Ruppert, Samuel Ruppert, Jake Ruppert, Tyler Johnson, Kyle Johnson, Abby Johnson, Henry Johnson, Hannah Schmidt and Braden Schmidt. Visitation will be held on Monday, June 8, 2015 from 10:00 am until time of funeral services at 12:00 noon at the Grace Lutheran Church, 111 Lutheran Drive, Eaton, OH with Pastor Warren Reichert officiating. Burial will follow at Mound Hill Cemetery in Eaton. Girton Schmidt & Boucher Gard Funeral Home, Eaton, is assisting the family with arrangements.
