Robert E. Norris, age 90, of Eaton, OH, passed away Sunday, April 15, 2012 at Vancrest Health Care Center, Eaton, OH. He was born December 7, 1921 in Brookville, OH to the late Elliot O. Norris and Eleanora E. (Hatcher) Norris Bishop and raised by his grandparents Arthur and Lola Norris. Bob was a 1941 graduate of Eaton High School, where he was a member of the football and baseball teams, and attended GMI. He retired from General Motors after 38 years as a Project Manager. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran who served during WWII. Bob was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Eaton, OH; was a little league umpire for many years; a 64 year member and past Master of the Bolivar Masonic Lodge #82, F. High Priest of the Eaton Chapter; Past Illustrious Master of Preble council; member of the Order of Eastern Star; member of the National Muzzleloaders Association; and was an avid Ohio State University and Cincinnati Reds fan. In addition to his parents and grandparents, he was also preceded in death by his wife of 69 years Weltha Z. Norris, who passed away July 7, 2010; and half-brother Billy Rae Bishop. Survived by his daughters & sons-in-law Penny & C.O. Ulrich of Eaton, Ohio and Sherry & Jay Meyers of Spokane, WA; grandchildren Kelly McCarty fiancé Mike Black of Eaton, OH, Tim & Jenny McCarty of Eaton, OH, Julie & Brian Lehman of Spokane, WA and Brian & Amy Meyers of Lacey, WA; and great grandchildren Chelsea & Wyatt, Alex & Olivia, Selena & Rebecca and Ashley & Katie. Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, April 23, 2012 at Girton Schmidt & Boucher Gard Funeral Home, 226 West Main Street, Eaton, OH with Rev. Wayne D. Morrison officiating. Burial will be in Mound Hill Cemetery, Eaton, Ohio with full military honors provided by the Preble County Honor Guard. Friends will be received from 2 – 5 pm on Sunday, April 22, 2012 at the funeral home with masonic services to be held at 5 pm. Memorial contributions may be sent to First Presbyterian Church, 123 West Decatur Street, Eaton, OH 45320.
