Rolland L. Emrick, age 80, of Eaton, OH and formerly of West Alexandria, OH passed away on Wednesday, January 29, 2014 at Reid Hospital in Richmond, IN. He was born July 3, 1933 in Greenville, OH to the late Willis W. and Edith (Henderson) Emrick. Rolland was a proud U.S. Air Force Veteran who served during the Korean War. He was a retired brick layer who owned and operated Emrick Masonry for many years. He was a member of the American Legion Post #322, West Alexandria, OH; V.F.W; Preble County Honor Guard; Eagles Lodge #4289 Gratis, OH; and a member of the Odd Fellows Lodge, Gratis, OH. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Dorothy Ann Emrick, who passed away in 1998; sisters Kathleen Baker, Evelyn Cencebaugh, Maxine Baker, Shirley Geeding and Rosanna Owens; brothers Lloyd, Gene, Robert and Donald Emrick; and son-in-law Fred Howard. He is survived by his son Charles Chip Emrick of West Alexandria, OH; daughters Kim (husband Bob) Shindeldecker of West Alexandria, OH and Valerie Howard of Eaton, OH; 5 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren; sisters Phyllis Swihart of Eldorado, OH, Norma Bishop of Richmond, IN, and Helen Smith of West Manchester, OH; brother Richard Emrick of New Madison, OH; and numerous nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held at 2:30 pm on Monday, February 3, 2014 at the Fairview Cemetery, Gratis, OH with Pastor Gary Wood officiating and full military honors provided by the Preble County Honor Guard.
