Vern W. Davis

Vern W. Davis, age 65, of New Paris, OH, passed away on Monday, July 15, 2013 at the Lakeside Manor Veterans Hospice Unit, Dayton, OH. He was born May 29, 1948 in Dayton, OH to the late Ray and Helen (Moore) Davis. Vern was a U.S. Air Force Veteran who served during the Vietnam War. He retired as a supply manager from Cincinnati Children’s Hospital in 2011. He was a member of the V.F.W. Post #8066, Eaton, OH; was a member of the American Legion #215; Eagles Lodge #2022; and was an avid golf player. He was also a member of the Lewisburg Missionary Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his infant brother Bernard Ray Davis. He is survived by his wife, Michele R. Davis of New Paris, OH; daughter Melissa P. (Bryan) Knapp of Clermont, FL; grandchildren Brandon Davis, Austin and Christopher Knapp; 3 step children and 6 step grandchildren; sister Jenny (John) Strickland of Lenoir, NC; brothers Lowell Davis of Eaton, OH and Mark (Tami) Davis of Lenoir, NC; and numerous nieces and nephews. Friends will be received on Thursday, July 18, 2013 from 11:00 am until time of memorial service at 12:00 noon at the Girton Schmidt & Boucher Gard Funeral Home, 226 West Main Street, Eaton, OH with Rev. Lowell Spencer officiating. Following the memorial service will be a luncheon at the Franklin Street Baptist Church.
