William J. Channell, age 84, of Eaton, OH, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, August 5, 2014. He was born November 10, 1929 in Springfield, OH to the late Lester and Ellen Channell. Bill was graduate of Urbana High School; he was a United States Air Force Veteran; he previously farmed in Champaign County; he was a Kahns buyer and an auctioneer for a short time, followed by being employed at Cox Media Newspapers and the American Heart Association. He volunteered for many years with local youth sports, where he was a founding member of Eaton Pee-Wee Football and coached Eaton Little League, once winning the state championship and competing in the regionals of the Little League World Series. Bill was also known as the GM General Manager to many in the communities of both Edgewood and currently Miamisburg High Schools where his son Steve coaches football. However, Bills true passion was simply his family, he loved being active with his children and spending time with his grandchildren. On his monument says it all A Real Miracle Our Family. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Nancy E. Channell, who passed away in 1978; and several brothers and sisters. He is survived by his daughter Susan (Mike) Richardson of Richmond, IN; daughter Linda (Ron-deceased) Greye of Eaton, OH; daughter Hope (Steve) Moore of Eaton, OH; daughter Diane (Oran) Wolfe of Liberty, IN; son Steve (Laura) Channell of Middletown, OH; daughter Melissa Channell-Ewry of Eaton, OH; 13 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren; and brother Lester Channell, Jr. of Apple Valley, CA. Visitation will be held on Friday, August 8, 2014 from 4:00 to 8:00 pm at the Eaton Church of the Brethren, 813 Camden Road, Eaton, OH. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, August 9, 2014 at the church. Burial will follow at Mound Hill Cemetery, Eaton, OH with full military honors.
