Wm. Jason Hines, age 34, of Lewisburg, OH passed away suddenly on Sunday, August 18, 2013 at his residence. He was born October 22, 1978 in Richmond, IN, to Pam Hines and the late William F. Hines. Jason graduated from National Trail High School in 1997 and attended Hocking College in 1997. He began working at the Preble County Sherriffs office as a corrections officer, and soon went on to the police academy. He then went on to work for the Lewisburg Police Department for 12 years where was currently employed. He earned many credentials as a Lewisburg police officer, especially Police Officer of the Year in 2007. He was preceded in death by his infant son Kannon Joseph Hines and his father William F. Hines. He is survived by his wife Kelsey Hines (Starr) of Lewisburg, OH; 10 year old daughter Katelyn Hines of Lewisburg, OH; 2 year old son Karson Hines of Lewisburg, OH; his mother Pam Hines of Eaton, OH; sister Kellie (Justin) Swartsell of Eaton, OH; mother-in-law Cheryl (Ted) Miller of Portland, IN; and father-in-law Paul (Jill) Starr of Redkey, IN. He is also survived by several aunts, uncles, in-laws, and numerous other relatives especially a close cousin and mentor, Toby Spencer; and a host of dear friends. Funeral services will be held at 4:00pm on Saturday, August 24, 2013 with full police honors at Wares Chapel United Methodist Church, 1060 Foos Road, West Manchester, OH 45382 with a visitation one hour prior to the funeral service at the Church. Rev. Seth Oiler officiating. There will also be a visitation held Friday, August 23, 2013 from 3:00pm - 8:00pm at Girton Schmidt & Boucher Gard Funeral Home, 226 West Main Street, Eaton, OH. Burial will be in Wares Chapel Cemetery, West Manchester, OH. Girton Schmidt & Boucher Gard Funeral Home, Eaton, OH is assisting the family with arrangements. A memorial fund has been set up for his children at Brookville Building and Savings Assn. under W. Jason Hines Memorial, 721 S. Commerce Street, Lewisburg, OH 45338.
